Three years ago today...

Dan and I were driving in Zeus (Dan's dad's mythic car) to San Francisco for our honeymoon. Just past Reno we hit a huge snowstorm and it took us almost a day to get from Reno to S.F. But we didn't care.  Because we had each other.  And the Da Vinci Code.  We read aloud as we drove (the person in the passenger seat being the reader and the driver being the primary listener).  We scoffed.  We baffled.  We laughed (mostly at the incredibly stupid questions Sophie's character would ask). We finished the book somewhere around Provo on our way home from L.A. (because after our honeymoon we decided we weren't ready to go home yet so we drove from S.F. to L.A. to visit my brothers).  The book sucked, but our honeymoon was amazing!

Anyway, yesterday we celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary.  We ate Portuguese food at Casa Portugal in Inman Square.  I had never tasted Portuguese food before.  They brought out bread, olives and olive oil as starters.  I ordered a mix of seafood (clams, little necks, shrimp, scallops and oysters) in a tomato based stock.  It was delicious.  Dan got grilled salmon which was likewise very tasty.  They also brought out some fried potato slices and orangey rice.

After dinner we walked to Harvard Square and saw the movie "Juno."  I really liked it.  I thought it was funny and quirky and real.  I also loved the music.  Dan liked the movie okay - he's hard to please.  I think he was slightly biased because as we were standing in line to buy our tickets the woman in back of us (who earlier had tried to cut in front of us but was intercepted) said to her date that "Juno is a chick flick."  But I looked over and saw him laughing a few times.  I guess every movie can't be "Transformers."  Funny that one of Dan's criticisms of "Juno" was that he felt like the dialogue was too contrived - I can't imagine how robots communicating could be less contrived, but whatever.  Dan let me wear his jacket on the walk home and all was well in the world.

Mom & Dad rocking out

My sister-in-law just sent me this little "video" of my parents and it totally cracked me up.

(I can't get it to embed, so you'll have to click the link...)
