Maine

Dan & I went to Kennebunkport and Portland, Maine on Thursday. We got to take the Trader Joe's Mini Cooper for the day (our store won it for a year). It was funny because Maine people (Mainians? Mainites?) are obsessed with TJ's and they kept flagging us down to ask if Trader Joe's is finally coming to Maine. (No). We were also flagged down by pretty much everyone else we saw driving a Mini Cooper. They would flash their lights at us on the freeway, yell out their windows "Cool car!", etc. It was really odd. They sure love their Minis.

Anyway, here are some pictures from our trip. I'm excluding one from Kennebunkport in which Dan is making an unsavory hand gesture toward the Bush's summer home. It seems we were one week early. On the 25th there will be a protest while the Bush's are vacationing. Dubya will soon surpass all other presidents in one regard: he will have taken more vacation time than any other. He's already used all or part of 418 days of vacation time during his presidency.

Welcome to Kennebunkport

The $16 Lobster Roll I got at the Clam Shack in Kennebunkport (as shown on Rachel Ray).
It was good, but probably not worth 16 buckaroos. It was very small.

Just a cool old gas pump

Lighthouse on Cape Elizabeth

Lighthouse on Cape Elizabeth. Apparently it's the most photographed lighthouse.

Ditto.
This is written on the rocks by the lighthouse. It says,
"Annie C. Maguire shipwrecked here Christmas Eve 1886."

Whoa, I just read the comment on the rock in the sea...man, that's uh, pretty heavy stuff. And, kind of random. I guess about as Random as a name like Kennebunkport.

Lisa, love your awesome Kennebunkport pictures. I'm glad you had such a good time. We're excited to come and visit you in the Fall.

I am so jealous of your fun weekend get-a-ways. You guys are truly taking advantage of the east coast hot spots.

I would make a hand gesture at Dubya's family home too. Can't wait for him to be done!!!!

By the way, we saw Sicko on our anniversary and LOVED it. I know I am easily convinced by Michael Moore but it seriously makes you think so much about our lame system. We'll have to talk more about it when we see you next. We are crossing our fingers that Dan gets into UW. We would love to have you guys up here with us!
